Ernesettle Community Curation Event
10am to 3pm
SEA Church, St Aidans, 42 W Malling Avenue, Plymouth PL5 2SS
Free. Please see below for details of how to get involved
Ernesettle Timebank has, for some time, been exploring Ernesettle residents’ memories of the area’s past and is intending to run an exhibition at SEA Church.
Volunteers from the area will be given the opportunity to work with members of the Plymouth Community Heritage Network and students from Plymouth Marjon University to learn ways of curating such an exhibition.
The aim is not only to showcase the remarkable stories of residents, past and present, but also to work with Ernesettle residents to explore ways that value and celebrate our shared histories and sense of place. SEA Church will be accepting items for the exhibition from 12 May.
If you would like to get involved as a local resident either to loan some of your items of interest, to come along and learn how to curate an exhibition of social history from the team, or simply to pop in and be wowed by the lives of residents, please get in touch! Until 23 June 2022, The Box is hosting an exhibition entitled ‘Where Am I?’ which is co-curated and designed with Culture Club, in partnership with Pride in Plymouth.
This year’s Culture Club group has been made up of people connected to the LGBTQ+ community who have interrogated The Box’s collections through a queer lens to explore the lived experiences of different communities.
Other communities have lacked representation in local heritage, however, and in this talk, the Devon Business Incubator team shares stories from our local past that you may have previously overlooked.
