VE Day, on 8 May 1945, was a true moment in history. For many, it meant the end to a global conflict that had taken millions of lives and torn apart cities, communities and homes.
Although the legacy of the war was still to unfold, and conflict with Japan didn’t end until August 1945, there was much to celebrate and a great deal of courage and commitment to honour. These images, taken from the photography collections at The Box, show some of the events that took place here in Plymouth.
